"I Just Want to be Loved!"

Through my own experiences as well as other's, I've come to realize that we as a human race long for love and to be loved. Why is that? Even in an abusive relationship, whether physical or verbal, the one being abused just wants to be loved. And why is it that the rates of teen pregnancies have only been rising? It's because girls are willing to go through any extreme - sex, pregnancy and abortion - all in the name of love. And why is it that many people fall into depression or come to the conclusion of suicide? Because they just want to be loved by someone, anyone. Why do we look for it and never find it? In most cases, we're taught to believe something that's not realistic... Or for me at least, growing up I thought at the age of 23 or 24 my Prince Charming / Aladdin would enter my life and love me till the end of time and we would live happily ever after. It hit me like a ton of bricks the day I realized that love like that ended where it began - in fairy tales. We're doing it all wrong. We're looking in the wrong places. We're looking for the wrong reasons...

We ARE loved.

The truth of the matter is, we can find what we are looking for... in a Savior. Christ IS love. Remember learning as a child the nursery song, "Jesus Loves me this I know..." But do we really know how much he loves us? In fact, He loved me so much that He died for me - and that's no fairy tale! John 3:16, I grew up on this verse, "For God SO loved the world, that He gave His One and Only Son, that whomever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." Wow, not only is what He did something that no man would do for me but He offers something worth more - Eternal Life!

Nowadays, with all the earthquakes around the world, tsunamis, shootings, killings, terrorist attacks, people tend to think about death more. And wouldn't they be more at peace if they just knew that there IS life after death and depending on if you choose your first love correctly, it may just be the life you're looking for after you die - mansions, streets of gold, pearly gates, white horses, etc. No Bill Gates of today could make such an offer and if they did, when the world ends (No, not 2012, but maybe - That's another blog) it will only be destroyed along with everything else in this world. And that's why if you want love, choose wisely because eternal love never goes away.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all about finding the right person, mate, future husband or wife but with Christ in your life and as your number one priority, you will not only experience a difference but you'll be a living testament to what love really is! You'll be able to love others the way He loves you... No wonder we were taught "Jesus Loves me this I know..." in Sunday School.

I've found love in Christ and now everything else falls into place and till then...

... still waiting for that magic carpet ride!

When I Say I'm a Christian ...

"When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."
I'm whispering "I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.

When I say. "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow."

Got Love?

You talk about love, preach it, and proclaim it.
You dine with it, you sing about it, dance with it,
And even "show love to thy neighbor".
Love is something you hold on to, something to savor.
Where's that love when it comes to those that have hurt you?
God did say to forgive, that means your enemy too.
To those who don't show it back and judge for all the wrongs that you make,
They are not perfect, blameless, with no mistakes.
But the truth is, God doesnt want us to dwell on the past.
He forgives and above all Loves and wants us to move forward.
He wants us to love even when those that have hurt us are part of our lives.
Love is like an ocean, free and endless, you pick a part and just take a dive.

But I've realized.
My love is released to those who show love back, to those
Who aren't afraid TO love, or to SHOW love, even when you've fallen.
My love is more than a thought, its more than just feelings.
Love is more than just words, goes far beyond high ceilings.
Love is something you know, something you've heard. Something you DO.
Love is something that teaches to see beyond the hurting, to start anew.
I've seen enough, felt enough to know,
That when you love others the right way, Christ's Love will also show.
